Making friends – making smiles

I met a new friend today by happenstance. One of my friends on Facebook shared a link to this artist’s blog and it totally resonated with me. I posted a response to her #makeamakersmile blogpost, and she responded to me. We share a philosophy and a deep appreciate for art and landscapes, although we work in different media.

Do check out her blogpost at https://www.janehunterart.com/blogs/news/make-a-maker-smile. While you’re there, poke around on her website. I hope you’ll enjoy her creations and perhaps even make a purchase. Who knows, this could become an international movement! Meanwhile, here on this side of the Atlantic pond there are many artists as well, several of them living a stone’s throw away. With the madness of Christmas gift giving upon us all, why not give a hand crafted item, book, image, painting or whatever that will be sure to delight the recipient and support a local artist as well.

It’s March, and thoughts are turning to spring

With spring comes a series of family celebrations, beginning with Mother’s Day. Every year people agonize over selecting an appropriate gift for their mothers, something that expresses their love and will be appreciated.

Some people enjoy receiving a gift that is temporary in nature – candy, wine etc. Things that don’t have to be kept and stored indefinitely.

Others, however, enjoy receiving something permanent that can be enjoyed immediately, and long into the future. A perfect gift for many moms would be a portrait, one that can be framed, hung on the wall, enjoyed now by all who see it and passed on to future generations as a tribute to lives lived.

Some folks don’t have children – by choice or by happenstance. But they often have “fur babies” – cats, dogs, horses or other animals to whom they devote themselves and who bring joy, comfort and love into their lives. Again, a visual memento may mean a lot to them.

This year I am offering a Mother’s Day Promotion – you can give your mother the gift of lasting memories this year. Book a 20-minute mini session and you will receive two edited digital images and a photo print release allowing you to print your photos at the lab of your choice in any size up to a 12″ x 18″ – all for only $75. (Larger prints and specialty finishes like canvas are available at additional cost.) Sessions will be held in a designated location in or near Sussex, NB and will be scheduled tightly to accommodate as many clients as possible. I ask that you be on-site and ready to go at your designated time. If not, your session may be shortened, forfeited or re-scheduled to the end of the day so as not to inconvenience anyone else who is ready for their appointment.

To book your appointment, please email me for more information or send a message via the Contact Me form. A $25 non-refundable booking fee is payable at the time of making your appointment. The amount will be credited toward your shoot and the remaining $50 will be payable on the day of the photo shoot.
