Sunny Sunday and WARM!

Well well, two consecutive days of sunshine and warmth. Today it’s actually supposed to get HOT, reaching 29ºC or more. That’s ok.

Headed out very early this morning for a jaunt through the Sussex Nature Trail. I love to go early on Sunday mornings because there’s little traffic on the roads between home and the Trail, and few people using the Trail at that time – although the early risers tend to be Avery courteous lot overall.

Cruising along I enjoy listening to the various birds singing loudly and inhaling the musky sweet scent of the forest around me.

It’s a shame that much of it has been cut down for development, but people do need housing of course. Sadly, the houses that are being built adjacent to the Trail are not what one would consider “affordable housing” for most people. On the other hand, they are lovely homes and will be well-kept, I’m sure.

The section from Sussex Corner to Maple Ave. is the Nature Trail. It follows Trout Creek and I usually circle up to the ‘duck pond’ and past the Bark Park en route. More trees have been felled opening up the woods on either side of the back trail for some sort of game set-up. We should be treasuring the natural habitat, not destroying it! Surely the ‘game’ (whatever it is with big baskets plunked all over the place) could be played on an already open field somewhere?

I stopped at the side of the creek to take a couple of photos and discovered this little fellow. He was Pecking away at the sign, perhaps looking for directions? Or checking out what fish inhabit the Creek?

It was noisy as he plunked away at the metal sign!

Wait for it….

What a wonderful way to start the day! Now, on with my regularly scheduled programming – ehehehe.
