Graduations these days are multi-day affairs including Baccalaureate services, grand parades, proms, and ultimately the graduation itself and, of course, innumerable photos. Last evening (the first non-rainy one in days) one of my surrogate granddaughters invited me to join in her pre-prom celebrations.

My own grandchildren aren’t quite old enough (although it’s getting close) to be graduating and they are in British Columbia. I’ve been “adopted” by the Smyth family as an extra “grandmother/auntie” so joining in on their major celebrations is a delight.

It’s amazing to see these young ladies and gentlemen all dressed up when you’re used to seeing them in jeans and t-shirts. They all looked very sophisticated (if a little uncomfortable) and definitely portrait worthy. They all gathered at Connell Park in Sussex and many, many cameras were at work capturing mementos of the evening – the last day of spring – as these young people prepare to head out on their life journeys.

Isaline and her date, Seth, made a striking couple in their colour coordinated outfits!

Here’s hoping they had a wonderful evening celebrating their achievements.
