Sunday morning in Sussex

We live in a relatively small town. Still, every weekend (and frequently throughout the week) there are loads of activities happening.

For our anniversary my hubby got me a #Fuji 1.4X Extender for my 70-300mm f/4-5.6 #Fujifilm lens. It’s not my sharpest lens, nor at f/4-5.6 is it my fastest lens. However, for long-distance shooting or sports where I am physically distant from the action, it’s what I have (and can afford). To say I am delighted would be an understatement!

I drove down the road to my favourite huge, old maple tree. Standing at the side of the road, this bastion of history stands proudly atop a hill in the middle of a farmer’s hayfield. It’s probably one of the most photographed trees in the province – everyone recognizes it. The shot on the left was at 70mm plus 1.4X; the shot on the right was with the lens fully extended to 300mm plus the 1.4X. If you click on the photo and view it full size, yo can see details in the leaves quite clearly.

Then, I headed over to @PrincessLouiseParkShowCentre where I found three events going on. In the arena itself, there was a barrel racing/pole bending competition. In the field across the road by the busy tennis courts, there was a dog agility competition happening. And, on the baseball diamonds behind that, there was a game happening. Whatever your interest you could find something to either participate in or watch.

Small towns are boring? There’s nothing to do? There’s nothing to photograph? I beg to differ!
