Fall Foliage is taking centre stage

It’s the time of year when the days are warm, the sun’s strength is waning, and the hardwood foliage is changing colour – rapidly.

Two days ago I took a similar photo to this one and less than half of the trees had changed their wardrobes to the brilliant autumn reds and golds. Today? A different story.

Meanwhile, bees and other insects are madly seeking food to increase their strength so they can build winter shelters for their queens to use to survive the coming season.

This morning was chilly, but by noon the temperature had risen significantly and it was a joy to be out in the sun.

My flaming bush is beginning to live up to its name as its leaves are finally turning crimson.

And the black-eyed-susans are still holding their own – providing a cheery spot in the yard and food for the bees.

In the driveway, one lone dandelion is clinging to life in the asphalt – at least for now. It’s a perfect depiction of tenacity. Enjoy the season – it’s brief but beautiful!
