There are SO many advantages to living in a small town or city. The obvious things are a lower cost of living, less traffic, and fewer crowds. Those advantages outweigh any disadvantages such as fewer shopping options (there are cities nearby).

These smiling ladies make everyone welcome early in the morning (7:30) at the #PicadillyCoffeeRoasters coffee shop. It’s nice to get a warm greeting, a friendly smile, good coffee and, meeting with other customers, great conversations.

The shop is decorated for the season and offers lots of gift ideas for the coffee lovers among us! You never know who you’ll meet or strike up a conversation with. This morning I met #BenNeill, owner and trainer at #TheMissingLink dog training. We talked about cameras, photography, dogs, training and life in general for a while.
Another advantage of small-town living is the easy access to the countryside. A five minute drive from my front door I can check on “my tree” and sometimes grab a shot or two of local wildlife.

With only a dusting of snow on the ground, it looks rather stark out there. No doubt tomorrow’s predicted torrential downpour and wind will change the look of the field significantly.

The deer are enjoying the minimal show cover as it makes it easy for them to graze on the stubble in the hay fields. Access to food in the winter is a major issue for them when the snow is deep and the temperatures are frigid.

Meanwhile, birds are flocking (pun intended) to our feeder hanging above the deck, fattening up on seeds and grains – no doubt in preparation for hunkering down in some shelter tomorrow.
Enjoy the day as the preparations for the holidays ramp up!

Lovely images.
