Any time is coffee time

It’s a dull and dismal Sunday morning so I decided to treat myself to a different type of coffee.

Sunday mornings at #PicadillyCoffeeRoasters is usually a pretty quiet time. They open at 7 a.m. every day and when I got there at 8-ish, there wasn’t a soul to be seen other than the nice young lady who popped out of the back room to serve me.

The tables were glistening, waiting for the first customer to come along and spill something – but I was determined it wouldn’t be me who’d make that first ‘oops’.

I’ve never had a Cortado before, but a friend of mine has been singing the praises of this beverage for a while now so I decided that today was THE day to give it a try. I was not disappointed.

Served in a small espresso cup, it’s a blend of a couple of shots of espresso and steamed milk – smooth but with a definite ‘kick’. Thanks for the idea, #StephanieMcFarlane!

As the first sip slid down my throat, I knew I’d enjoy it to the very last drop!

As I enjoyed each sip, a number of people came and went, picking up their favourite “to go” beverages. For me, the joy is in the relaxation and sometimes having a chat with another customer. Those who rush in and out are missing out (IMHO) on one of life’s small pleasures – relaxing.

As I neared the bottom of the cup, I still took time to glance around and enjoy the early morning peace.

Glancing out the window to my right I could see that it was still grey out there with a few flurries of snow falling onto the cars in the parking lot – so I decided to linger a little while longer.

And then? The Cortado was all gone and it was time to run a couple of errands before scooting back home again. I wish all of you a quiet and peaceful Sunday morning – wherever you are and whatever you are enjoying.
