We’ve had the most bizarre weather this winter, including torrential rain/wind storms, unseasonable warmth, bitter cold – you name it, other than snow, we’ve had it. But, minimal shovelling in our wee corner of the world.
I decided to go for a drive today and stopped to check on “my” tree in Penobsquis. It’s standing bravely in the wind, absorbing the sunshine today.

Not a deer in sight this morning, but I’m sure they’re enjoying easier access to whatever grass is available to them as they have their babies for the year.
Then, I treated myself to a cappuccino at the Cobbler’s Lane Fudge Factory. It’s silky warmth was just what I needed on a sunny but blustery day!

As part of my birthday celebration, Joel gave me a bundle of beautiful tulips. They have to make you smile, right?

I’ve been the grateful recipient of phone calls, both sentimental and funny cards, and innumerable good wishes via Facebook in honour of my natal day. Dinner out with my sister and her friends, followed by two hours of laughter at the Mary Walsh comedy show at the Imperial Theatre kicked off my week-end celebrations. That was followed Sunday morning by a fabulous brunch at the Gasthof Old Bavarian in Knightville. Today brought flowers and cake from Joel and a visit from another friend, plus, of course, phone calls from friends far away. I appreciate every single gesture of affection and support that helps distract me from the fact that there’s one phone call I won’t be getting this year – or ever again.
But, the sun is shining and I am fortunate to have a kind and supportive husband, wonderful friends, and, of course, Harley and Lucy to provide doggy/kitty hugs and kisses.
I’m looking forward to warmer weather so I can actually enjoy getting outside for longer walks and bike rides – soon I hope.
