Small Town Weekends

People say there’s nothing to do when you live in a small town. How very wrong they are. Just yesterday, for example on this first full weekend of summer there was a Reining Horse Show at the Princess Louise Park Show Centre. There was also a Cattle Penning Event in the outdoor Ronnie Wilkins Ring next door. The parking lots were full!

Adjacent to the Show Centre some people were playing tennis and there was a ball game in the field further along the road. People were walking on the Nature Trail and over the new bridge to downtown where many volunteers were busy setting up for the Diverifest event, organized by the Multicultural Association, celebrating cultural diversity in our community.

While Bialystok band members concentrated on their performance – the opening act for the afternoon – others were dressed in costumes ready to go and visitors wandered from booth to booth enjoying samples of food from different countries and admiring clothing representative of many different cultures.

My only regret was that I couldn’t stay longer to enjoy it all!

Well done Multicultural Association of Sussex!
