Not only have we passed the moment of summer solstice, but school is out for summer vacation. This is our official “Canada Day” weekend – the celebrations will be held tomorrow, July 1.
Meanwhile, it’s the last day of June. The morning dawned gray, damp, and drizzly so I decided to head to one of our local coffee shops. Early on a Sunday morning, it’s a respite from the world for a little while AND you can get lovely coffee and treats too.
For me, it’s a lemon blueberry muffin and a rich, dark roast coffee laced with cream.

At first, I was the only customer, but after a little while groups of people, families, children, and caffeine-deprived adults began arriving and filling the place up.

SO many choices – and the coffee menu is extensive with hot drinks, cold drinks, fancy drinks – and even plain coffee – pick your roast preference.

The peony centre piece is pretty too.
It got a little hectic for me, so I finished my coffee and treat and headed out. As I was going down the road, I saw a friend of mine out walking one of her two gorgeous collies. Nothing would do but I had to stop and capture some images of “Thomas”.

He greeted me with enthusiasm – and very clean teeth!

He’s a very handsome lad, and extremely friendly too – but without being ‘pushy’. He just wants to be friends.

I said goodbye to my friends Mary and Thomas, and headed home to wrap up the month of June and hope for sunshine and warmth for the next while. Time does fly by, doesn’t it?
