The sun was bright today, highlighting the remaining autumn leaves that paint the countryside a tapestry of reds, golds, yellows and oranges. It was ideal weather for the Pony Club Regional Championships to be held at the #FoshaySouthEventing facility just outside Hampton, NB.
Today’s competition featured club members riding various dressage tests. For many, it was their first venture at an outside venue away from their home base at the #HamptonRidingCentre. Horses and young riders were a little nervous, but the intrepid Pony Clubbers faced their fears and trotted into the ring surrounded by family and supporters to cheer them on.
The Judge and her Scribe sat patiently in the judge’s booth as each effort was made. When mistakes were made, the ever-patient judge explained the error to the competitor and encouraged each to keep trying.
The light was lovely and I couldn’t have asked for a more scenic backdrop.
In the warm-up ring down the hill, competitors and helpers worked on last minute adjustments before walking up the hill and entering the competition ring.
Coach Jennifer was kept on her feet observing each test ride and reassuring competitors as they entered and left the ring.
Competitors’ families and friends lined the fences watching their riders compete.
Judge Alison Gallagher and her scribe, Sloane, were busy observing, recording, and scoring every movement of every test so that competitors could review them later to learn what they’d done well and what needed improvement. It was a long day for them both running until late afternoon.
The organizing committee did a great job in acquiring prizes and ribbons to be given out at the end of the day.
And the decorations gave a nod to the season…
It was a good day to have a good day indeed.
