I went for a walk on the Nature Walkway in Sussex a few days ago. I stopped by our kids’ memorial trees where only a few leaves are still clinging to the branches, defying the season.

A little further along the trail, Mother Nature had drawn a spooky face on a tree trunk with lichen.

If you keep your eyes open, you’ll find lots to see and photograph when wandering around a natural environment.
Five days ago I photographed my neighbour’s HUGE tree that had changed from green to gold, virtually overnight. Since then the winds have blown and the same tree is virtually naked now.

That’s always a sign of the impending season. The ground is carpeted in gold that rustles when you scuff through it.

Tonight the ghosts and goblins will be roaming the streets of our little town looking for treats (and hopefully not playing tricks!). Have a Happy Hallowe’en everyone!
