Stepping away from chaos

Today I decided to be kinder to myself. I’ve limited my endless scrolling on social media, and the increasing stress that came with it. Instead, I’m reading a novel, just for fun. And, since very generous friends gave me several varied coloured tulips as birthday gifts, I decided to play with my camera, particularly my close up / macro lens kits to see what I could do.

Red tulip on the verge of opening

The tulips are in various stages of their own development. Like a diverse group of people, some are beginning to open up, others are already drooping and withdrawing from the group, while still others are just hanging around together.

They don’t care what colour their neighbour is – they all shine brightly together. Nor do they care if one is wide open, singing loudly from the depths of its soul, or quietly humming along with the rest.

Purple and yellow tulips together

They simply complement and compliment each other adding warmth and contrast to each small vignette within the bouquets.

Each speaks in its own unique way, reaching out to the window light to bask in its comforting warmth.

Wouldn’t it be nice if people did the same? Something to think about as the weekend is around the corner and the temperatures are dropping – again. Can you be the light and warmth for someone? You never know when it might be the best thing you can do – for them and for yourself.
