It’s hard to believe that we are already only 5 days away from Christmas Day, and the year is rapidly winding down.

After yesterday’s torrential rains, high winds, and warm temperatures, today’s more seasonal cold temperatures (and still lots of wind) feel colder than they really are. The weather played havoc with power outages all over the province and general misery yesterday and earlier today. Friends on their way home from a holiday celebration had to wait hours before a tree blocking access to their neighbourhood was removed. During the night, a tree fell on our neighbour’s roof. At the moment, a tree removal company is sawing away to remove it in pieces so his house can be checked for damage. It was a big tree with an approximately 16″ trunk. Luckily, no one was hurt.
I decided to stay inside, out of the cold and wind, and play with my camera again. Of course, my main subjects are familiar to anyone who follows my mental meanderings.

I baked yesterday (in case we lost our power). Today we’ve been sampling the lemon/blueberry cake. It’s rather good and probably won’t last long.

Lucy chose to snooze on the back of the couch in the glow of the Christmas tree lights. She’s trying valiantly to ignore the chaos outside.

Harley, on the other paw, found the whole thing rather boring.
As the revelry of the season ramps up, I am keeping a low profile. With both my son and Joel’s daughter gone, and no word or connection with the grandkids out west, it’s difficult to feel jovial. Still, we will celebrate the season with a good meal and a few small gifts.
We do wish all of our friends and family a truly Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy 2026!
