It’s SO COLD!

The sun is shining brightly, but it does little to dispel the -25ºC (-35ºC with windchill) outside. Just walking from the house to the car is a nasty experience!

snow on tree branches

The snow that fell the other day, making puffs of marshmallow on tree branches, has fallen to the ground thanks to the wind that preceded this cold snap. There’ll be more tomorrow if we get the predicted ‘Nor-Easter blizzard. The upside is, if it snows, the temperature has to rise significantly.

I knew it would be bitterly cold. The day before yesterday, this woodpecker, some sparrows, and a couple of chickadees descended on our suet feeders, stocking up!

Yesterday, to escape the cold and have some fun, I joined in on a macro/close-up workshop hosted by the #KennebecasisValleyCameraClub. It was great fun. Several ‘stations’ were set up with various props to play with. One had a tiny vase with wooden roses standing up. I got all set up and then realized that I’d forgotten to charge my flash unit – duh, rookie mistake! But, I did have a flashlight so, with the help of a friend who shone the light for me, I was able to get a few shots. Then, another friend loaned me her ring flash for my last couple of shots. Definitely a learning adventure.

Today, I decided to brave the continuing bitterly cold temperatures to venture out to a local coffee shop for a visit with a friend. The place was hopping as people kept coming in for a cup of tasty brew to warm their insides and their hands! The baristas were very busy young ladies!

I’m staying inside for the rest of the day. The sunshine is lovely but the temperatures are not. Time to get ready for tomorrow’s predicted blizzard.
