The omniscient weather forecasters warned of an impending nor’easter blizzard for yesterday. By noon, not much had happened. And then a few tiny flakes began to fall early in the afternoon. Within minutes, it became a full-fledged blizzard with the wind whipping the snowfall sideways, and visibility dropped to next to nothing.
Schools were closed yesterday, and by this morning, about a foot of snow had fallen. With the wind whipping it around, the snow banks took on a life of their own.

Some looked like swirls of whipped cream.

The banks by the road, however, were over 3′ high and hard-packed by the passing snowplow.
Early in the morning, Joel gnawed a small path out to the road so he and Harley could get out for the “necessities”.

After the light came up, Joel bravely set out to defeat Mother Nature, armed with a couple of shovels and a snowblower.

Two and a half hours later, he was done (in many different ways!)

Snow is pretty to look at, but often difficult to deal with. I’m sure local skiers were delighted with it, though. The snow was piled up on the deck and on top of the heat pumps as well. With rising temperatures, though, much of it will melt away. After all, it is winter in the Maritimes!
