A Sultry Sunday in Sussex

Today was predicted to be hot and muggy so I headed out for a bike ride at the crack of dawn. It was humid, but not too hot as I cruised through the Sussex Nature Trail. A loud croaking noise gave me pause as I passed one of the ponds, so I stopped to capture a couple of photos of one of the many sources of the sound.

We grow them big here in southern NB.

Even with all of the cattails along the shore, they were easy to spot!

When I got home Lucy greeted me with a stare that clearly said I was late delivering her snap ks!

After breakfast (mostly hers and Harley’s) I decided to head down to Princess Louise Park in Sussex to catch some of the dog agility action. It’s not a sport that I normally photograph so this was a learning experience for me. About a third of the images are fit to look at – others? Not so much. I had a lot of problems with back-focus and I’m not quite sure why or how to correct it. But, as I said, it was a learning experience and it was great fun to watch. Today was another excruciatingly hot one, so I only stayed for a little while.

These dogs have AMAZING focus on their handlers as they seek direction for the next obstacle on their course. And they are FAST! Their “four-pawed-drifts” around corners are astounding as is their ability to weave through a line of poles. I tried to make sure I got a few shots of each dog. Some were very agile. Some were hilarious. And some were just having fun. Isn’t that what it’s all about?
