Yesterday, a friend of mine and I had a short discussion on Facebook about… raspberry pie.
She said that the pie at the #SussexBakeShop was the BEST.
Not that I don’t trust her word, I felt the need to verify the information for myself – always a wise move, right? So this morning I went down to the bakery (on Main Street – across from Tim Horton’s, next to the Remax realty office). As soon as I walked in, one of the young ladies working behind the counter (who had started the whole conversation yesterday!) saw me and said, “I wondered if you’d be in today!”
It looks, and smells, delicious!
As soon as I got home, Joel (and the dog and cat) smelled the treasure I’d returned with. He immediately dug out a tub of ice cream to augment the experience.
It didn’t take long to eat that first piece, savouring every bite, with some “hungry eyes” closely monitoring.
It should be noted that both Harley and Lucy are well fed – but, hey, pie!
When the plates were emptied, I’m sure you can guess what happened next.
Not to be outdone, Lucy got involved in pre-washing the other plate.
For anyone who has eaten here and is concerned about sanitation – no cause for alarm. All dishes go through the dishwasher before being used by humans!
The final score? 10/10 If you’re looking for raspberry pie (or any other bakery goods), go early. They sell quickly. The breads and sweet treats at the #SussexBakeShop don’t last long!
