Autumn can be beautiful here in the Maritimes

When September blends into October, the days get shorter, the temperatures cooler, and the colours on the hills around the Kennebecasis Valley are brilliant.

They don’t last long as the winds of autumn are strong and brreak the leaves’ tenuous hold on branches very quickly. If you want to see the colours, you can’t wait too long. Yesterday I went out with a group of photographer friends exploring the back roads of Kings County in search of the scenes of the season.

On my way to meet up with the group, I stopped by the memorial trees we had planted for our children. Joel and Kerry’s daughter, Samantha, died in 2022. She would have been 40 today.

My favourite image of Samantha Snow, Joel and Kerry’s beautiful daughter.
The leaves on Samantha’s tree have turned colour for the season.

Then, I headed off to meet up with the others for our adventure. We headed out through Picadilly and on to backroads and covered bridges for our adventure, stopping for a late lunch at Adair’s Lodge. There was a lot of talking, a lot of laughter, and hopefully everyone got some pretty images as well!
