Autumn is almost here

The last rose of summer

I spent some time today roaming the highways and byways near my home. Yep, the signs of autumn are everywhere.

Leaves on shrubs and trees are beginning to turn colour and soon the brilliant reds, golds and oranges will be everywhere.

Sedum are lovely shades of deep pink inviting bees to come
Berries ripe for the picking by birds fattening up for winter
The very last dandelion

Corn stalks reaching for the skies, their cobs ready for harvesting any day now.

Hay fields are empty now, ready to rest in preparation for next season.

The calendar says it’s still summer for a few more days, but the air says otherwise. Autumn is in the air and her show of colour can’t be far behind.
