Time Travel Fantasy

Hindsight is indeed 20/20. If I could go back to the year my son was born and re-do a few (MANY) things I did while raising him, perhaps I would. But then again, he turned out to be a responsible adult, husband and father so perhaps I didn’t do so badly after all? You can’t re-write history, but you can learn from it.

Diana Gabaldon’s “Outlander” series of 9 books and a 6-season (so far) TV series speaks to our fascination with time travel. Her heroine, Claire, is a 20th century woman who finds herself transported back in time to early 1700s in the Scottish highlands where she meets her soulmate. Many of us devoted fans lust after Jaimie and envy their love affair that endures hardships, wars, phenomenal adventures and repeated trips through time and back again.

But, would I want to live in that time without modern conveniences, access to medical care, disease preventing vaccinations and hygiene? I think not.
