It really IS spring!

Yesterday was a sunny Sunday morning. I met up with three friends from the Kennebecasis Valley Camera Club for a road trip around Kings County, New Brunswick.

First, we adjourned to the porch on the #Picadilly Coffee Roasters building to get caffeinated for the trip and decide, in very general terms, where we wanted to go.

Beverages consumed, we piled into the car and headed out of town. Our first stop was at a rarely used or seen covered bridge. The forest on the upper side of the hill sported some amazing tree roots. I could imagine them walking into a scene in Lord of the Rings!

Cathy Craig, Cathy Thistle and Bob Owen explored the riverbanks while I kept my eyes on the forest. Even the weeds were lovely backlit by the warm sun.

Just over the hill, at the edge of a farmer’s field, we found some unique treasures to photograph. It was like a scene settlers might have found as they travelled across the prairies.

Beyond the Old Bavarian (Giermindle’s) Restaurant, fields were just beginning to turn green for this year’s hay and other crops.

Pussywillows were dancing in the breeze as we wound our way toward Cornhill. To our total surprise, there was a charming gift shop in a reclaimed farmhouse. It’s still under development, but the proprietress was happy to show us around, let us take photos and, of course, sell us a few things to take on our way!

Our final stop was on the roadside as we approached Sussex. An old barn on the hill drew our attention, as did the collection of rusted and dilapidated implements. Cathy C. and Paul were drawn to some budding trees at the back of the adjacent field.

We had a wonderful day and lots of laughs, capped off by lunch at the famous “Mule”.

I suspect everyone slept well last night (except me – but that’s a tale for another day).
