We live in a small town surrounded by rolling hills, farms and forests. On a sunny Sunday, like today, people are out and about, enjoying the weather and finding things to do. In the centre of town, there is a large recreation area called Princess Louise Park. It includes tennis courts, a basketball court, several ball fields, a pickleball court, a skateboard area, and the PLP Show Centre. On a day like today, a lot of it is in use. Kids and adults alike are playing assorted ball games, and locals and visitors from out of town are participating in one of the many horse shows at the Show Centre. This week, it is a Quarter Horse show featuring both English and Western riding competition classes.

Some of the classes are held in the outdoor ring and others are in the indoor arena. Parents, family members and friends are all helping to keep things going while others just stop by to be spectators for a while.

It looked like folks were having fun, anyway.

I enjoyed meeting a friend for coffee at the #Picadilly Coffee Roasters and then headed home.
When I got home, the heat was rising rapidly. I saw footprints in the asphalt walkway from what I assume was a midnight passerby. I’m pretty sure it was one of our neighbourhood raccoons.

Done with roaming the roads, I settled on the deck, hoping to catch a glimpse of the elusive hummingbirds nesting in our bushes somewhere.

They didn’t drop in while I still had my camera handy. C’est la vie.
