For something to do on a Saturday morning, Joel and I decided to go on one of Zelda’s Kennebecasis River Adventures sample 1-hour tours today. The adventure takes place on a pontoon boat, the Zephyrus, that departs from the dock behind the Lighthouse River Centre in Hampton. Revenues from today’s sample tour were being donated to support the Hampton Food Bank and the sample gave passengers a taste of what could be expected on a longer tour.

We were joined by two families including six children who added life and enthusiasm to the trip.
The dock and the river were busy today as people took advantage of the clearing skies, minimal wind and smooth waters to enjoy kayaking, sailing or fishing from either the banks of the river OR from the deck of a boat. Our young fisher-folk had a great time catching (and releasing) several fish during our break at the half-way mark on our sojourn.
On the riverbanks we had the opportunity to glimpse a bit of wildlife and some birds scanning the water for their lunch.
On the return portion of the trip a lone kayaker raced us back to the Town. He won!
Many thanks to our tour operator, Zelda, for a lovely morning visit with nature aboard the Zephyrus!
