What’s a photographer to do on a Saturday afternoon when there’s an equine event going on nearby? Why, photograph it of course! I spent a delightful time at the #HamptonRidingCentre yesterday capturing some of the action at the Cross Country clinic with host and instructor, Jennifer Hanson.

After their morning training sessions, riders had the opportunity to scope out the track that would be used for the Pace Control portion of their training – learning to ride at speed up hill, down hill and over varied terrain.

The course at the Centre offers jumps of various heights and designs and it gives beginning Eventers a chance to try out the sport in a controlled environment where skill development and safety are the prime concerns.
Then after a morning session on jumping skills and the pace control portion of the training, participants get to try riding over the whole course – at whatever level suits their current skills. The object is to have fun, enjoy a new sport, and get to the finish line safely and happily. I’d say goals accomplished!
