Abstractedly waiting for warmth

The sun IS shining today, although the weather forecasters are predicting nasty weather in a couple of days. In the meantime, while waiting for dry roads, pot hole repairs and lighter winds so I can actually get out and enjoy riding my bike, I’m playing with various photography ideas.

Today I decided to try my hand at abstract macro photography using water, oil, dish soap and assorted paper backgrounds.

It turned out to be both challenging and fun. The hardest part, when you have lousy vision, is to manage crisp manual focus on an amorphous blob floating on water.

Still, if it weren’t a challenge, why would one try? Mental stimulation keeps us young and alert, right? OK, it relieves crushing boredom too!

Now I’m curious. Let me know, in the comments, which of the four you prefer and why. Or none?

I find all four images pleasing, but there’s something about the combination of colours, asymmetry, and the play between dark and light in the second one that resonates with me.
